DIKSHA is a customizable National Digital Infrastructure that States, Teacher Education Institutions (TEI) and Private Entities can use for their respective teacher centric initiatives. Teachers will be able to use DIKSHA to access and create high quality teaching, learning and assessment resources for all subjects and levels in all Indian languages. The role of ‘Our Teachers, Our Heroes’ is paramount in defining the quality of education. There have been many technological projects, initiated and implemented in the education sector. However, never before has the educational ecosystem come together in such a way. From its conception in March, DIKSHA has been proceeding fast and gathering collaborative momentum. DIKSHA has been created by a network of government, for-profit and non-profit organisations that are not only willing to participate, but also significantly help in making it sustainable. We envision every teacher in the country to be a part of DIKSHA by 2020.

Maharashtra has over 1,00,000 tech-savvy teachers who have been instrumental in creating an on ground movement of technology innovation for teacher education and for improving student learning. The teachers have supported the development of MITRA with more than 5000 videos - through which now, the Maharashtra State is helping shape DIKSHA! The DIKSHA platform would provide world-class technological infrastructure for Maharashtra’s MITRA initiative to create local content and provide need-based training to all its teachers.
